Please be in prayer for Bob Hammond and Mac Best as they lost their son/brother this past weekend.
Marvin Alan Bennett, age 71 of Vienna, WV passed away Sunday, October 25, 2026, at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 9, 1955, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Charles Bennett and Shirley Hall Hammond. Marvin was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and a US Navy Veteran. He was retired from E.I. DuPont with over 31 years of service. Marvin enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and woodworking and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Dianne Viar Bennett; his father, who raised him, Robert Hammond of Vienna; two daughters, Ashley Bennett (George Markland) of Jeannette, PA and Heather Archer (Allen) of Mt. Juliet, TN; his siblings, Vernon Bennett (Lisa) of Nashville, TN, Macaria Best of Vienna and Tim Hammond of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Alexander James “AJ” Archer and Madison Archer.
He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Perry Hammond.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with Pastor Troy Nesselrode officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery with full military rites. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday and one hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home.
